A Sick Kennedy is an Unhappy Kennedy...
I used to be the sick girl. If someone who worked in the building next to me got a cold, I’d have it within the hour. I was sick at LEAST once a month and had to do double shots of Nyquil as I had built up such an immunity to it’s sleepy ways. However, since I’ve been eating better and exercising, I haven’t been sick. Really. Like, at all. So yesterday I start to feel that scratch in my throat and I know the evil bug has made it’s way into my system, and I’m pissed!
I left work yesterday and was in bed by 11:30. Dr GTL made sure I took some Vitamin A and some other concoctions he whipped up for my health, but I was sure to take a healthy pull of the Nyquil. I woke up sometime around 3ish to an empty house not exactly sure where I was. I got about 1/2 a bowl of Ramen down and was right back to bed. Woke up again at around 10:30pm and then was up and down from midnight until the alarm started screaming at 3am. Can I just say Nyquil gives me some wacked out dreams. Straight up weird stuff. I really should write them down, but I never do and I’m left with a vision in vapor of what I thought I saw. Dreams are funny like that, if you don’t take the time to remember they are gone in an instant. I remember the main players in the dream and a few locations, but other than that it’s gone. So strange. I’m looking forward to more Nyquil-inspired dreams in an hour or two.
Needless to say, I had 1/2 bowl of Ramen and a handful of vitamin A yesterday and that’s it. Today, 3 crackers and more A. Ugh.

Validation!
So, yesterday I was over at Dr. GTL’s house, and I was in the kitchen cleaning up and stuff, and I overheard GTL talking on the phone. No, I wasn’t eavesdropping, but it was about my Halloween costume, so of course I stopped to listen. ANYHOO, after he gets off the phone he tells me he was talking to one of his peers, a fellow Dr., and the guy who got him involved in this weight loss system. I had met this Dr. at a dinner about 4 months ago, and he said that I should be shouting from the rooftops because I looked great. He said he could really see a change. It’s sometimes the people who only see you every once and a while that help you see the progress you have made. It feels great – makes me want to work even harder. Seriously, this system rocks! If you want more info or just need that extra push to start, email Dr. GTL and he will get you on the road!
Other than that, it’s been a fairly decent day. Went shopping and bought some really cute clothes. It’s the best part of losing weight – getting clothes that fit instead of clothes that cover and camouflage. Seriously, I had a Masters Degree in finding clothes that covered the bad parts and tried to emphasize the few good. Lots of black, lots of layers and lots of long tops. While I will never give up the black clothes, it’s so great to get things that are fitted, that show off my curves and that don’t make me have to turn, bend and suck in to look good at only one angle. You know what I’m talking about. You think it looks sort of good, but someone takes a picture at a weird angle and you look like you weigh so much more. I’m worrying about those things less and less and it’s amazing.
I’m going to start shopping for bikinis in a few weeks and it doesn’t make my palms sweat anymore. Seriously. Last time I felt like that I was a freshman in college.
That’s it for today. Hope your day was great!

I Survived Halloween Weekend!
I really didn't think I was going to make it, but I did. I'm a little worse for wear this morning, however, the mountains of candy still sitting at Dr GTL's are NOT in my belly and for that I am a happy girl. I swear the smaller the candy the bigger the pull to eat it. You justify it in you brain, "it's little, it won't make a difference", or "I can have 3 or 4 - no biggie". Ugh. And they just stare at you from the bowl. Tempting you. Mocking you. Screaming at you from the other room, "YOU KNOW YOU WANT ME"....
So, I had a Kit Kat, and it instantly made me sick. Crazy huh? I haven't eaten chocolate since I started the diet really, so now I have determined that, as much as I love it, perhaps it's better saved for really special occasions. This weekend really started on Thursday, I emceed the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center's Annual Gala. I ate well, but good God someone kept filling up my wine glass. One day I'll realize I simply shouldn't drink wine. It's no good for anyone. Aside from the empty calories and sugar, I just wake up feeling like 5 kinds of ass. Friday was a total wash. I could hardly get off the couch and I think I went to bed at 6 or 7. I'm a winner.
Saturday night Dr GTL and I went to a house party at David Wades house. I was Little Red Riding Hood and he was the Big Bad Wolf. We looked pretty damn good. David made some amazing looking baked ziti. It smelled good. That's all I can say as I didn't partake. Not giving in to the carbs!
Sunday I was so stoked to hand out candy to the kiddies. I have lived in the city for the past 8 years of my life where there were no kids, so since GTL lives in the burbs I got to do it. I handed out lots of candy and didn't eat any (except the aforementioned Kit Kat)! Saw some really cute kids and a few that were a little too old to be trick or treating but it was pretty cool. Then it was Boo Bash. Recycled the costume (why not?), GTL stayed home :( but I had fun. The bands were awesome and the costumes were so original!
So now it's Monday, back to the grind. Gonna get a nap, go running, make some good food for dinner tonight, and call it an early night. xoxo

No Fair...
This morning we had Governor Deval Patrick in studio, which was really cool. He's a super nice guy, and very funny. One thing I've learned after having all three candidates in the house is that they are all good people who I'd love to have beers with. They have to be so buttoned up and proper while on the campaign trail, and I get it, but they are all pretty cool dudes underneath it all. However, they ALL bring treats with them when they come in. This morning Governor Patrick brought this....
Seriously!!!! Ugh. They look soooooo delicious, however, I know that eating just half of one of those would take a week of good eating and throw it out the window. So, I had a bar (a delicious Peanut Butter Crunch bar) and I'm moving on.
Also, I have completely given up on my costume. I got everything spread out on the table yesterday, pinned all the pieces and started to sew. Now I'm sure this is operator error, but I'm going to blame the sewing machine. It wouldn't sew properly, the bobbin kept popping out, and it ate a chunk our of the blouse. So, I quit. Really. Threw the material across the room and pouted for 30 minutes. So ridiculous, but I really had my heart set on making this myself, and I just couldn't get it done. Check me out at Boo Bash in the costume I had to order and spend $40 in rush shipping charges to get here on time.
Stood in front of the mirror yesterday wearing not much and I'm really starting to feel good about this bikini challenge! I got lots of compliments from co-workers yesterday, the results are starting to show and it really feels good. Nothing quite like it in the world.
Today I swim!

New Car, Now I Need A New Skirt...
First and foremost, my Halloween costume is NEVER going to be ready by Saturday. I take that back, I will not put that negativity into the Universe, it WILL be done. I just don’t know when. Yikes. It’s truly starting to stress me out. I think today I just have to start sewing and not look back. Like that scene in Three Amigos…
Ok, so bikini update. Yesterday stuck to the diet, except for dinner. I bought a new car yesterday ( A VW Tiguan) and I was at the dealership for a while and by the time I left all I wanted was Sushi. So, my amazing Dr. GTL ordered me Sushi for dinner. Rice is totally not allowed on the diet, but still got in the rest of my meals. Also, did 45 mins on the ellipticals at the gym.
The weather change means bringing out all the winter clothes. I love dressing in the fall, I love cute sweaters, skirts and tights, boots, you know the drill. However, NOTHING FITS. Picture is of the skirt I’m wearing today, it’s freaking huge. So that is the happy news of the day.

Weekends are a Killa...
Had a great weekend, Abtoberfest on Friday - that was insane. Pics up here if you'd like to see the insanity. Seeing those guys made me realize it's time to start working the abs. You can finally see my waist and I realized there is some muscle under there, so I need to get going! Any good ab workout ideas??
Took a weekend off from the diet, didn't get crazy, but we had a wedding and stayed a friends house on Saturday and you know how that goes. So, back on it this morning! I'll weigh in today and see where we are. If you are interested in the diet, there is a seminar coming up, click here for info...
Not too much more to report this morning, I'll touch base later this afternoon. I have to start sewing my costume ASAP, I swear if I get this done by Boo Bash it will be a sewing miracle.

5 POUNDS BABY!!!
It's been a week of challenges and excuses, but got on the scale yesterday and 5 lbs in a week!!!!!!! Hellz yeah! I have been slack on the exercise, haven't done as much as I should have, however, I am way sore from the small amount I did do. I swear I'm walking funny. Yeah, you are funny.
The diet is going awesome. New systems are so hard to start and changing the way you eat is tough when you are used to eating crap, but once you spend 3 solid days on this plan, your cravings go away and you are rarely hungry. I eat 6 times a day for crying out loud! Much props to Dr GTL who got me on the plan and keeps me going.
Tonight is the B's home opener and I'm so excited! Got some cool new threads at Lucy's League and I am ready to go! Bringing bars with me so I don't get enticed by the Garden food!!
Go B's!

Pancakes!
Good morning! Yesterday was kick ass. Got all my meals in, made a yummy dinner AND hit the gym! Did weights and 30 mins of cardio. I don't fear a whole lot in this world, but can I just say that when I walked into the free weight room at the gym and saw a couple of muscle bound dudes pushing up large amounts of steel and got scared. Seriously. Afraid to walk into the room. Ridiculous. So I went and did all the arm machines on my own then slowly realized that the last two machines were in the room with the dudes. Needless to say, I sucked it up and went on in. Too funny really that I was bothered by such things.
Anyhoo, today I found out that Medifast makes PANCAKES! How psyched am I that I can have pancakes for breakfast? VERY. So I've had two meals already, I'll have one more before I leave the station and then I'm off to the gym to swim.
I'm starting to feel better about getting into a bikini by December 18, still scared, but every day I see that I can do it!

So Much For That...
So this weekend Dr GTL and I went up to the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa for some R&R. Needless to say, all diet went out the window. We pretty much slept and ate all weekend. It was great to get away and even better to spend some time together, but DAMN did I eat. The food up there is incredible, seriously amazing, so if I was going to go off the reservation, that is the place to do it. The leaves were still on the trees, it was gorgeous. We ate, slept, took a carriage ride, ate and slept some more. I guess we needed the rest... Well, that's my story anyway.
So that means it is seriously back to business this week! I'm back on the diet, took my vitamins this morning, and I have my workout plan for the week. I'm going to do weights and cardio M,W, and F and swim on Tues and Thurs. YES I AM. I watched Terminator 2 this weekend in between food comas and found the workout Linda Hamilton followed to get those arms. I'm in!

Day 1 update...
So I'm halfway done with the day and I've got some good things to report and some not so much. So...
The Good..
The weight loss system I'm on (which rocks) allows me to eat 6 times a day. I've started setting the alarm on my phone so I know when to eat. I usually have my "lean and green" meal at dinner, but had lunch with the suit. I had grilled fish and shrimp with a salad.
As soon as I finish this bottle of water I'll be done with my water for the day.
I got in all my other meals, I'll have a shake before I leave for the event I have to do at the Circus and a bar before bed - so yeah me!
I'm walking to the T instead of taking a cab.
The Bad...
Blue Cheese dressing
No G today
I got an iced coffee from 7-11, took one sip and realized it might as well be a milk shake (threw it out)
I want to thank you guys for the support, it means a lot. Helps me stay accountable!
Well, I'm off to finish the L and head to the Garden for the circus. They are making me a clown. Insert your "but you already are one" joke here...

Bikini? Really?
I honestly don't know what I have gotten myself into. I have just booked our December trip to Jamaica and, while talking to Dr. GTL about it I said, you know I really want to get into a bikini for this. Next thing I know I've said it on the air and now I have to do it. I'm scared I will fail, to be completely honest, and the fact that I've said it on the air means I will fail on the air - Ergo - failure is not an option.
Soooooo.... I've got a plan and now I just have to put it in motion.
I'm on an amazing diet - I've lost 15 lbs already, but then totally fell off the wagon, so I'm back on this week and it's going well. I'm back on my vitamins, which I had to go off of for 2 weeks after my procedure and I could totally tell the difference. If you'd like info on the diet I'm on, contact Dr GTL he can totally square you away on the diet and all things wellness. I do my diet through him and he has helped me tremendously, he's a great source of support, I really couldn't do it without him.
Also, I joined a gym! I started at Boston Athletic Club in Southie - I'm swimming and today I start with weight training.
I'm scared silly, I really am. But I'm determined and nothing gets in the way of this redhead! Except chocolate, man I love chocolate and it's EVERYWHERE!
I'm off to eat Meal #2.... Here are some BEFORE shots for your review.
